This course will help you immediately diagnose and effectively treat little patients with inherited metabolic diseases. Doctors from the EU will guide you through the topic: address the main issues and introduce health care system in their countries. 

For the completion of the course, you will receive a certificate acknowledged by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Carefully listen to the lectures and pass all the tests to receive a diploma.

This online course substitutes the study tour for health professionals. Considering the quarantine we had to postpone travels abroad, but we will return to the live format as soon as the pandemic is under control.

  • Lecture 1. Diagnostic work-up in inborn errors of metabolism in neonatology and newborn screening for metabolic diseases.
  • Lecture 2. Emergencies in neonatology due to inborn errors of metabolism: hyperammonemia.
  • Lecture 3. Emergencies in neonatology due to inborn errors of metabolism: hypoglycemia, acidosis.
  • Lecture 4. Neonatal epileptic encephalopathy: when to suspect inborn error of metabolism.
  • Lecture 5. Neonatal screening of inherited metabolic diseases: ethical aspects and interpretation of results.
  • Lecture 6. The path of a patient with the lysosomal disease to diagnosis and treatment.
  • Lecture 7. Hepatosplenomegaly and hepatopathy in children with inherited metabolic diseases.
  • Lecture 8. Case reports in neonates with inherited metabolic disorders.
  • Lecture 9. Selective screening and interpretation of metabolic analysis in children with suspected inherited metabolic diseases.
  • Lecture 10. Supply a critically ill newborn and a small infant with inherited metabolic disorders from the area.
  • A live session with lecturers for your questions and clarifications.

  • We will communicate the results of the assessment through an email sent not earlier than 5 August 2020.
  • Everyone who meets the technical criteria can participate in the online course. The application must be submitted on time, it must include answers to all questions on the application form and the mandatory attachments.

  • If unsuccessful, you can apply again at the next call.
