COVID-19 crisis is here, and it is severe, especially for culture and creative industries. To bolster the sphere, we launched 4 new programmes to respond to the most urgent challenges it is facing.
When in need of anticrisis ideas
Together with Goethe-Institut Ukraine and supported by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, we have launched a massive online ideathon.
1,168 professionals from art, creative industries, and IT spent 48 hours brainstorming the anticrisis solutions for culture. Mentored by 129 experts from Ukraine and the EU, the participants came up with 63 projects. 3 teams with the most thought-out and promising ideas received EUR 3,000 prizes, while 8 shortlisted projects received hatathon grants up to EUR 25,000 each. All presentations are in open access for you to get inspired.
When in need of funding for technical equipment and rent
For theatres, galleries, creative hubs, and other cultural institutions to open their doors after the quarantine, we created this grant. We received applications from organisations, willing to work, but lacking the funding to purchase the equipment to organise home offices or pay the salaries. Out of 1,101 applications, we have chosen 35 organisations with the most thought-out projects.
When pandemic is an inspiration
Live streams of music festivals, art exhibitions in social media, cloud working — the pandemic has inspired cultural operators to search for new formats. This grant supported 10 organisations that found the out-of-the-box way to go online. We have chosen them from 113 innovative project ideas.
When having troubles working in times of quarantine
Due to quarantine, numerous cultural managers lost an opportunity to work on the projects they cherish. To back them in times of crisis, we created these stipends: UAH 3,000 for the completion of an online course from our selection. As a result, 2,212 cultural managers from all over Ukraine got the know-how to be better professionals. 1,500 of them also got the stipends of UAH 4,500,000 total.
